ASTM D 2794-93 Resistance of Oganic Coatings to the Effect of Rapid Deformation (Impact).

A piece of cold rolled steel 4" x 12" x 0.032" is coated with Gloss Varnish to a thickness of 0.010" and then UV cured.

A steel ball 5/8" diameter weighted to 2lbs is dropped from a height of 51" onto the top of the coated steel.

An Impact crater 1/4" deep can be seen from a force of more than 100lbs per square inch.

The lower enlarged photo shows no fracturing or delamination of the UV cured coating.

The white lines seen in the indents are flourescent light reflections.
