UV Shield has the UV absobers and reflectors necessary to preserve the wood/coating interface.

ADMIRALTY UV TOP COAT

The critical element for a durable exterior yacht varnish on wood is photochemical stability of the wood surface beneath the coating. Legnin in wood absorbs UV light which leads to radical induced depolymerisation of both lignin and celulose at the wood surface. If this interface is not stabilized, even a durable coating will delaminate due to photoinduced wood degradation.

UV Top Coat's formulation contains several beneficial UV Absorbers and UV Reflectors that ensure a state-of-the-art attenuation of UV energy at the wood surface. Thereby protecting the coating/wood interface from photodegradation. At 2 mils thick the UV B and C energy spectrum is attentuated more than 99 percent and the UV A energy spectrum is attentuated more than 98 percent .

UV Top Coat is best applied on top of Admiralty's Varnish and cured with the Mako UV light.
